“That chapter of my life is over,” Meredith Whitney, founder of Kenbelle Capital, told Fox Business in an interview last week. Whitney has decided to close her firm after a legal battle with Michael Platt’s BlueCrest Capital Management, which sued Kenbelle in December for the right to pull out $46 million from the firm. Kenbelle and BlueCrest recently settled the suit, but Whitney says she’s done with the hedge fund life. “This whole experience has been highly unfortunate and I’m putting it behind me.”

Daniel Loeb, William Ackman and Carl Icahn spoke together on a panel hosted by Instituitonal Shareholder Services and no punches — verbal or otherwise — were thrown. A source who was at the event at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan on Thursday told Business Insider that the hedge fund titans who have all battled with one another at some point — most recently over Ackman’s stance on Herbalife — “played well in the sandbox,” adding that “they were very polite and complimentary with one another.”

“We are going to look if this person exists,” Vladimir Savov of Bulgaria’s Financial Supervision Commission said on a conference call last week, referring to the 37-year-old man alleged to have made a fake takeover bid for Avon Products. Nedko Nedev has been accused of making the false deal, but authorities are no longer sure he’s a real person. “This guy is a phantom,” a resident in the complex where Nedev allegedly lives told the Wall Street Journal.

Have investment funds picked their president? “I think Jeb will have widespread support from the investment community,” Fred Malek, founder of Thayer Lodging and financial chairman of the Republican Governors Association, told CNBC. “A lot of candidates can talk the talk, but he’s demonstrated that he can walk the walk as well, and I think that’s widely admired and appreciated not only on Wall Street but by the whole business community.”
