Diamondback Capital Management co-founder Richard Schimel will honor former Tampa Bay Buccaneer running back Warrick Dunn next week at a fundraising gala to benefit “A Little Hope,” a charity for children and teens whose parents or loved ones have been killed in violent crimes.
Dunn’s mother, a police officer, was killed when the former NFL star was 18, and he was tasked with raising his five siblings. His eponymous foundation has similar aims to “A Little Hope,” which was formed in reaction to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Schimel is president of the board of directors.
“Warrick has already made an incredibly impact on the lives of thousands of children both on and off the field,” Schimel said in a statement.
A live auction during the June 7th event, held at Espace on the west side of Manhattan, will offer prizes including a Napa Valley vacation, a loft suite to a Jay-Z concert and courtside seats with players’ lounge access at the U.S. Open tennis tournament.
