After infuriating many of his hedge fund supporters by proposing higher taxes and calling Wall Streeters “fat cats,” President Barack Obama is reaching out to them, collection plate in hand. Earlier this year, Obama hosted a meeting in the White House’s Blue Room for Wall Street financiers. Managers present included York Capital Management’s Jamie Dinan, Highbridge Capital Management’s Glenn Dubin and Paul Tudor Jones of Tudor Investment Corp.

In May, Obama sent his campaign manager, Jim Messina, to New York for individual meetings with Wall Street executives, with the last one at the home of Avenue Capital Group founder Marc Lasry, according to a report in the New York Times. Obama himself returned to New York in June to wine and dine hedgies at the Upper East Side restaurant Daniel.
