Paulson & Co. founder John Paulson hosted a three-day confab for investors in Paris, which included a cruise down the Seine River, strategy workshops and a keynote by former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Harvey Pitt. But despite being in the City of Light, Paulson kept his investors in the dark on his investment in Sino-Forest, the Chinese tree-plantation company whose stock lost most of its value after the consulting firm Muddy Waters Research accused the company of fraud. Paulson, Sino-Forest’s largest shareholder, dodged all questions related to the troubled company. By mid-June, Paulson had sold all 34,714,300 shares.
