Barakett backs new Duma fund (Magazine Version)

Nadeem Walji, a former portfolio manager at Soros Fund Management and Duquesne Capital Management, has launched a newly restructured macro strategy at Duma Capital Partners. Duma opened in New York with $50 million in seed capital from TRB Advisors, a global direct investment firm formed by Timothy Barakett, the founder and former chairman and chief executive of Atticus Capital. The new Duma Liquid Opportunities fund, which now manages $60 million, began trading in January and will open to outside investors in the second quarter. Walji and his partner and co-founder, Ashwin Bulchandani, will manage the fund, which will focus solely on opportunistic macro trades. They worked together at Soros and Duquesne.
